The competition ratio for ACCS Emergency Medicine CT1/ST1 training posts in 2025 was 14.23:1. 5,081 applications were made for 357 posts.  This is an increase in the competition level compared to 2024 when 2,718 applications were made for 359 posts (a competition ratio of 7.57:1).

In 2025 there were 357 ACCS Emergency Medicine CT1/ST1 posts compared to 359 posts in 2024. A decrease of two posts. 

Up to 2025 ACCS Emergency Medicine was usually classified as CT1/ST1 as applicants could choose whether to go through the CT or ST training route during the application process. From the 2025-2026 recruitment round it was only available as a run-through specialty training programme at ST1 level.
